WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR
As director of IU-RESCAT, I welcome you to our website.
IU-RESCAT is a research, transfer and training initiative that takes a multidisciplinary approach to the problems mentioned in our name: Global sustainability is our ultimate goal, a goal that climate change puts at risk and that will not be achieved without decisively and quickly implementing an energy transition that frees us from dependence on fossil fuels.
At IU-RESCAT we seek to quantify climate change, observe its effects, study forms of adaptation and mitigation, offer technological solutions and a legal framework, determine the economic effects of the changes needed and study their impact on ecosystems, infrastructures, the territory, human health, etc.
It is the great challenge of our time, one that cannot be tackled without combining perspectives from across the various disciplines of science.
- Mission
IU-RESCAT's main mission is to excel in research into the crucial issues facing 21st century society, such as sustainability and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This involves addressing climate change and promoting new forms of energy. IU-RESCAT carries out multidisciplinary research at various levels in order to contribute knowledge and solutions regarding the transition towards a more sustainable energy economy.
- Vision
The vision of IU-RESCAT is to become a national and international leader in the provision of scientific advice and in the transfer of knowledge in the areas it addresses. It also seeks to promote knowledge in sustainability, climate change and energy transition through skills building and excellence in higher education.
- Goals
L'IU-RESCAT has established a series of strategic goals to attain its mission.
These are:
Achiving international scientific excellence.
Becoming a leading centre in scientific assessment and knowledge transfer.
Promoting connectivity in sustainability and climate change.
